Temporary Steel Canopy Design
Budget: $750 – $1,500 USD
for UK Certified Engineers ONLY , BASED IN UK I am planning two separate temporary steel canopies of 4,500 m² each (total 9,000 m²) in Manchester to shelter large public gatherings. The structures are roofs only, so everything must comply with UK Building Regulations, Eurocodes and CDM 2015 while recognising their short-term nature.
Scope of work
The full structural design package should cover wind and snow loading specific to Manchester, member sizing, steel layout, foundation details and the temporary-works strategy that keeps installers and users safe. I will submit your package to Manchester City Council, so it must arrive in a format acceptable to Building Control.
Information I need from you
• A fixed-fee quotation for the entire design service
• Your estimated timeline from kick-off to final issue
• Confirmation of professional registration (CEng, IStructE or equivalent)
• Any additional guidance that could smooth local-authority approval
Deliverables I expect
• Design brief and basis of design report
• Full calculation pack (wind, snow, load paths, deflections)
• General arrangement drawings of both canopies
• Detailed member sizing schedules and connection sketches
• Foundation drawings and bearing pressure checks
• Temporary-works methodology and risk-assessment notes
• Issue sheets and revision history ready for Building Control submission
