Structural Plans for 4-Bay Carport
Budget: £250 – £750 GBP
I already have Structural drawings (plans, elevations, sections, connection details for a four-bay carport here in Essex and the site’s soil investigation report is complete. What I still require is a qualified structural engineer to turn those sketches into full, Building-Control-ready drawings and calculations.
Project outline
• Purpose: sheltered storage for vehicles only – no workshop loads.
• Structure: treated timber frame set on individual piers (no concrete slab), topped with lightweight metal sheet roofing.
• Look & feel: I’m aiming for a modern build that still reads as traditionally styled from the street.
• Size: custom overall footprint; the current concept drawing shows four equal bays with generous clearance. I’ll forward the DWG/PDF once we agree the engagement.
Key deliverables
1.. Full structural calculations for timber members, fixings, roof purlins and pier foundations, referencing current Eurocodes/BS EN standards.
3. Foundation design coordinated with the existing soil test data (report supplied).
4. Brief compliance notes or specification sheet for the building inspector.
5. One revision cycle to capture any Building Control comments.
Preferred file formats: PDF for issue, DWG/DXF for CAD interoperability.
Timeline is flexible but I would like to lodge the application within the next few weeks, so please include an estimated turnaround in your proposal along with examples of similar timber-frame outbuildings you’ve engineered.
