Structural Beam Calculations

Job ID: 39922746

Budget: £250 – £750 GBP

I am based in the UK and last year I had a builder do a very small infill extension that involved extending a steel beam and wooden joists from 3 to 4 metres. Since then I've found there are no structural calculations for the beam which I need.
I’m looking for a structural engineer who can produce a set of retrospective calculations. The beam and joists now supports only lightweight elements—a flat roof with a skylight—so the loads are fairly modest, but I need formal confirmation for my local Building Control office here in the UK.

Scope of work
• Analyse the existing steel beam and adjoining timber joists using current British Standards (BS).
• Work on the assumption of conservative dimensions where measurements are uncertain, so the final check errs on the safe side.
• Provide clear load-path, shear, moment and deflection checks, plus any simple connection notes needed to justify the span and bearing load
• Deliver the calculations as a single, well-organised PDF

Information available to you
• Photos of the existing beam and joists.
• Basic building plans / sketches with estimated dimensions.

I understand these calculations are retrospective, so I’m not asking you to certify the work on site—just to give me a properly structured report
