Structural Engineering for ADU Conversion

We’ve got a pole barn we’re planning to convert into an ADU. We spoke with the building department, and since we’re not making any structural changes, all they need is a letter from a licensed engineer confirming the building is structurally sound and meets the required snow load. The barn is solid—sheathed, manufactured trusses, metal post bases, etc. —so it easily qualifies. I’m a carpenter and will be doing the work myself, so I can provide any details, pictures/videos, or measurements you need.

Requirements:
- Signed letter by licensed structural engineer
- Must be licensed in Idaho

Ideal skills and experience:
- Structural engineering expertise
- Experience with Pole-Barns is a bonus
- Knowledge of Idaho building regulations a bonus
