Mechanical Approval: Soft Water System
Budget: $750 – $1,500 USD
I need a Colorado-licensed mechanical engineer to review and approve the soft-water system planned for our new 13-unit residential building in Basalt. The vendor has already designed a combined hot- and cold-water softening setup and supplied a full quote; what we still lack is an engineer’s professional sign-off confirming that the design complies with local code and good engineering practice.
You will receive the vendor’s drawings, equipment cut sheets, and portions of the plumbing plans that relate to the system. Some documents are still being finalized, but everything required to evaluate flow rates, pipe sizing, back-flow prevention, and regeneration discharge will be available or quickly supplied on request.
Your scope is limited to design compliance. No site visits are expected unless you feel one is essential; a remote review with stamped documentation should suffice for the building department. After your assessment, I’ll need:
• A stamped letter (PDF) certifying that the proposed soft-water system meets applicable IRC/IPC, Colorado, and Town of Basalt requirements.
• Mark-ups or brief notes calling out any conditions, assumptions, or minor corrections necessary for approval.
Turnaround within one week would keep us on schedule, but let me know if you need slightly longer.
