Tropical Minimalist Concrete Home Design

Job ID: 40537110

Budget: $30 – $250 USD

I'm seeking an experienced architect or designer to create a minimalist-style home designed specifically for tropical climates. The materials should be durable and able to withstand tropical conditions and also available to the southern Thailand region.

Key Requirements:
- Design a floorplan with around 50 msq indoor space and a covered outdoor deck (minimum 15 msq)
The build should try and stick to a simple design to keep build costs low.
Cross ventilation is a must, roof overhang also. Roof vents too.
The 50 sm2 should contain a separate bedroom fitting a double bed, a small office space, preferably in the bedroom as that's where the Aircon would be but open to suggestions and ideally the workspace is not visible from bed.the kitchen should have decent storage, food storage, a cooker, sink and fridge space. Living area and bathroom, happy for the bathroom to be small and a Thai style wetroom. Plenty of storage for books, clothes, hobby items, suitcases. The house should be as inaccessible as possible to snakes, all windows will have mosquito nets, no open slats or louvres. A further must is the ability to sleep at night with fresh air circulating but intruders unable to gain access.

The build
- generally concrete is used as the primary building material around this region but open to other materials depending on availability and price.
A second Stage plan is a solar installation on the roof so a steel roof with insulation may be better than clay tiles.
- Ensure the design is suitable for tropical weather conditions, weeks of heavy rain, extremely hot summers where the house needs Aircon.
Tiled floors

The ideal candidate should have:
- Proven experience in designing homes for tropical climates
- an understanding of living in the climate without air conditioning / airflow /
- Expertise in concrete construction techniques

Please provide samples of previous work, especially projects in similar environments.
