CA Solar Carport Engineering

I’m ready to move forward with permitting for a 30 ft × 40 ft standalone carport in California where the solar modules themselves form the roof. To submit to the local building department I need a California-licensed structural engineer to take full responsibility for the structural design, calculations, and stamp.

I’d also like to add a 3-5 ton gantry crane to suspend from the structure.

The scope is limited to the structural portion of the project: sizing steel or aluminum members, specifying foundations that meet local soil assumptions, detailing connections, and confirming the array can safely act as the weather-proof roof. Wind, snow, and seismic loads must follow the 2022 CBC and ASCE 7-22 requirements for my county. I will supply the site address, geotechnical report (if required), module specifications, and preliminary layout the moment we start.

• Signed and stamped structural calculations
• Full plan set with foundation, framing, and connection details ready for permit submittal
• Brief compliance summary for the building official
• One round of revisions after plan-checker comments if needed
