Architectural Design for Prefab Micro-Housing Units on Ocean View Terrace – Cyclone & Earthquake Resistant
Project Description:
I’m looking for an experienced architect or architectural designer to develop a site layout and concept design for a small housing development project on an island with high exposure to cyclones, earthquakes, and corrosion (tropical environment).
Site Details:
* The project is to be built on a terraced plot, specifically on the second plateau of the land.
* The available surface is 30 meters wide x 8 meters deep (but 27 available only).
* This level has 180-degree ocean views.
* Access can be planned either from below (lower plateau) or from the same level (pedestrian access).
Project Requirements:
* Layout proposal for 3 to 4 small units, either:
* Studio apartments, or
* 1-bedroom units.
* Construction using prefabricated building systems only.
* Materials must be resistant to cyclones, earthquakes, and coastal corrosion (high humidity/saline air).
* Inclusion of pedestrian pathways and access to the units.
* Prioritize smart, compact, and efficient design with tropical living in mind.
* Sustainability and resilience are key.
Deliverables:
* Masterplan layout of the units on the 30m x 8m platform.
* Elevations and floor plan for each unit type.
* Design suggestions for materials and structure (e.g. steel frame, modular systems, anchoring methods, roofing).
* Basic 3D visuals (if possible).
If the concept is approved, a second project will follow for detailed design and documentation.
