Engineer for Load-Bearing Wall Opening
Budget: £250 – £750 GBP
I’m ready to remove a section of a load-bearing internal wall less than six feet wide to create a more open floor plan. Before my builder starts cutting, I need a structural engineer to supply everything the council and contractor will ask for:
• Calculations that confirm the wall can be safely opened and the new load path is sound
• A beam or lintel specification (steel or advise on the most practical choice)
• A clear drawing showing dimensions, bearing points, pad-stone details, and any temporary props
• A brief summary my builder can follow on-site, plus notes I can include in a building-control submission
Please base your design on typical UK building-control requirements and let me know what measurements or photos you’ll need from me straight away. I’m aiming for a straightforward solution that keeps disruption and steel weight to a minimum, so optimisation is welcome as long as safety is never compromised.
