Contemporary Home Expansion Plans
Budget: ₹1,500 – ₹12,500 INR
I am looking for an experienced architect/architectural designer to redesign and extend my existing home.
Key Constraints
The house has common walls on 3 sides with neighbors.
There is no possibility of extension or balconies on those sides.
Only one side is open to the garden – this is the side where extension is possible.
A very important requirement is that all bedrooms and living spaces must have proper ventilation and, if possible, direct sunlight. Since the house is closed on 3 sides, I am open to design solutions like open-to-sky cutouts, ventilation shafts, skylights, or other creative methods.
On the ground and first floors, I want as little restructuring of already constructed walls as possible. New extensions and changes can be made on the garden-facing open side, but I don’t want heavy alterations to existing shared/common walls.
---
Floor-Wise Requirements
Ground Floor (Residential – minimal restructuring + extension)
Extend one bedroom outward towards the garden.
Swap the drawing room and kitchen → kitchen should go in the corner, drawing room in the center.
Add a small 4x4 ft transparent private lift (glass/modern type), strictly for personal use (not public).
Add a compact public staircase (not very large, efficient design).
Improve ventilation & natural light for bedrooms, possibly using skylights or open shafts.
First Floor (Academy/Office Use)
Entire first floor will function as my aviation academy. Currently only the bathajd toilet areas are permanent structures. Everything else is temporary structure.
Spaces required:
One large classroom for 30–35 students, with projector setup.
A reception area + office space for 2 employees (front-facing).
A private office for myself, overlooking the garden.
Additional rooms: TT (table tennis) room, small library, and a gym/workout space.
This floor should be extended forward till the tinted/shaded area shown in the ground floor plan (plans will be shared).
Second Floor (Residential Use)
This floor should also be extended till the same point as the first floor.
Layout to include at least 4 bedrooms with attached bathrooms.
A lobby/lounge area in the center – flexible space that can be used for recreation (pool table, sitting area, etc.).
Proper ventilation and daylight for all rooms is essential.
Third Floor (Utility/Services)
Only for water tanks and utility spaces.
Lift
Include a small 4x4 ft private glass lift connecting all floors.
Lift shaft, pit, and technical provisions should be included in design.
---
Deliverables
Revised floor plans for Ground, First, Second, and Third floors.
Façade/elevation design with a clean, modern, and contemporary look (energy-efficient windows, sleek lines, modern railings, etc.).
Ventilation & sunlight solutions (very important due to 3-side-closed layout).
Practical, cost-effective planning that minimizes unnecessary demolition.
---
Notes
I already have the ground floor and first floor plan drawings – these will be provided.
I only require floor plans and external elevation/modern façade design.
I do not need interior/furniture layouts (like sofa/bed placement).
The main focus is on:
Smart layout planning
Sunlight and ventilation
Modern façade/elevation
