On-Call Structural Engineering Support
Budget: £36 – £0 GBP
I run a small but rapidly growing engineering practice and need an experienced structural engineer I can call on as individual jobs arise. Most of my current workload centres on residential buildings, so you’ll be joining projects that range from single-storey extensions to full new-build homes.
Your main role is to pick up structural analysis and the accompanying design calculations whenever my in-house capacity is stretched. I’ll send you the architectural drawings, design brief and any survey data; you return a clear calculation package and notes I can pass straight on to Building Control and the architect. When helpful, a brief commentary on any value-engineering opportunities is appreciated.
I prefer that you work in Masterseries or Tekla so that models and output slot straight into our existing workflow. Drawings must be in AutoCAD.
Typical deliverables for each assignment:
• Native model file (Masterseries or Tekla)
• PDF calculation pack, fully referenced
• Any sketches or marked-up drawings needed to explain the design assumptions
Turnaround varies by project, but most jobs require a seven-day window from brief to submission. If this cadence fits your schedule and you’re comfortable jumping into residential work on a repeat basis, I’d like to hear from you and see samples of recent calculation packs you’ve produced.
