structural engineer
Budget: $3,000 – $5,000 USD
I am looking for a structural engineer to assist with a residential building project. I have a rough sketch of the plans, but I do not have any detailed plans. I am looking for someone with the experience and expertise to help with the drafting and design work associated with this project. I will need stamped plans (CA) to present to the county of Riverside for permitting. The engineer should be capable of providing detailed and accurate plans as well as be willing to work with me throughout the design and development process.

All interior walls within the red box on the layout pic will be removed. Trusses span 30' from front exterior wall to back exterior wall. They currently support the HVAC unit (see pic) and concrete roof tiles. The green line represents the center beam I would like to install and the blue circles at either end would be where we would need to cut the slab and put appropriate footers and supports. Is there a chance that the footer on the left may be sufficient since that is a load bearing wall for the bobtail trusses that run perpendicular to the trusses I am modifying? We will need a collar tie to create space for the HVAC ducting and will likely need to create some sort of framing to cover the trunk where it penetrates the roof as that is below where the collar tie will be (see my rough drawing).
