Urgent: Washington State USA Civil Engineering - Immediate Start
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
I am seeking a structural engineer to develop the structural plan component for a new single-family home in Bellevue, WA. The site is a narrow, elongated lot (approximately 63 ft wide by 420 ft deep, totaling 25,779 sq ft) on a steep slope (over 40% in areas) adjacent to a Category II wetland and Type N stream, with required buffers (110 ft for wetland/stream) and setbacks. The property is at 1613 West Lake Sammamish Pkwy SE, Bellevue, WA 98008 (Tax Parcel #9253900231), under City of Bellevue.
The home is a 3-story structure (plus garage) with a footprint of about 1,840 sq ft, total living area ~7,010 sq ft, and height from average grade to roof peak of 27 ft 4 in. The design must address slope stability, potential landslides, and minimal impact to critical areas. Focus is on the foundation and retaining systems, using a soldier pile outer wall with cement inner (shotcrete or poured concrete) – a common method in Washington for steep terrain to provide lateral support and erosion control.
Project Background:
Existing plans (provided upon hiring): Boundary & topographic survey, site plan, wetland buffer map, height/area calculations, elevations.
Scope of Work:
Review provided site surveys, geotechnical report (if available; otherwise recommend one), and revision comments from City reviewer Jason Felgar (Utilities Department).
Design the foundation system: Soldier piles for outer retention, with inner cement lagging. Account for loads from the house, soil pressure, seismic activity (WA Zone D).
Provide full structural plans and calculations: You will provide engineering calculations, I have an engineer creating the drawings already.
Foundation details (footings, anchors, drainage behind walls), lateral bracing, overall framing (wood or steel), roof structure, and integration with site grading/driveway.
Deliverables:
Detailed structural calculations report, including load paths, soil bearing, and slope stability analysis.
Timeline: Urgent – complete draft within 7 days max --- The project must be submitted to the city by the new year or the entire project is worthless.
Requirements:
Proven experience with steep slope foundations, soldier pile walls.
Please include in your bid:
Relevant portfolio examples (e.g., similar WA slope projects).
Must start immediately.
