Structural Crane Capacity Assessment

I need a seasoned structural engineer to conduct a comprehensive capacity review of our facility’s crane-bearing elements, focusing on the building’s columns and beams. The goal is to confirm whether the existing structure can safely support both our current and any planned crane operations, and to pinpoint opportunities for future crane upgrades.
Scope of work
1. Structural review
• Inspect accessible columns and beams for geometry, material condition, connections, and signs of overstress.
• Verify allowable live and impact loads against anticipated crane loads.
2. Crane system evaluation
• Compile and study available data on each building crane (make, model, rated capacity, installation drawings).
• Cross-check installation details with OSHA, CMAA, and ASME B30 standards to flag deviations.
3. Preliminary capacity assessment
• Calculate demand vs. capacity under normal operating conditions.
• Identify any load restrictions, service-ability concerns, or locations that need reinforcement or further finite-element analysis.
Deliverable
• A written report (PDF) containing:
– Description of the buildings reviewed and each crane system, including notes on upgrade potential.
– Summary tables of structural capacities, governing code checks, and calculated safety factors.
– Clear list of limitations, recommended operating restrictions, and any areas warranting detailed follow-up testing or strengthening.
