Part 1: Quick render of existing conditions. Mark the line of the finished floor, the line of the ceiling, and locations of beams. Note the dimension from the finished floor to the underside of the beams. Note the dimension from the finished floor to the line of the ceiling.

Part 2: Determine Ceiling Finishes and Complete a Preliminary Ceiling render

Ceiling Finishes: First, consider ideas for the ceiling finishes for each space in your design. Consider design elements such as materials, soffits, multiple ceiling planes, etc.

Preliminary Ceiling Sketches: Next, render in walls, locations of beams, and locations of shafts. Then, indicate ceiling finishes and ceiling heights you plan for each room. Finally, on the existing conditions sketch from Part 1, using graphics and notes, sketch in the ceiling planes you have chosen. Keep in mind that the section will cut through limited portions of your design; you will not show all ceiling finishes on your existing conditions sketch, only those that fall on the section drawing cut plane.

Part 3: Draft a Reflected Ceiling Plan: Formally draft a Reflected Ceiling plan for your class project at a scale 1/4" = 1' 0".
