House Extension & Additional Cottages – Layout Design & Plans
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
I am looking for an experienced draftsman / architectural designer / builder consultant to assist with a small house extension and additional guest cottage project on my existing residential property located in South Africa.
The scope includes both an extension of the existing house, and the addition of separate outside guest cottages for rental/guesthouse purposes.

• Property: Existing house already built.
• Scope includes:
• Extension of existing main house:
• Existing house will be opened into a large modern open-plan living area (kitchen/lounge/dining).
• Modernize exterior (plaster, paint, new roof where necessary, new windows/doors).
• Construction of 5 outside guest rooms (cottages):
• Separate from the main house with private external entrances.
• Approximate size per cottage: 3m x 4m or 3m x 5m.
• Each cottage to have:
• Bedroom
• Bathroom (shower, toilet, basin)
• Optional small kitchenette (budget dependent).
✅ Design Style:
• Modern, simple, clean, cost-effective design.
• Materials: face brick or plastered brick, Chromadek roofing, standard aluminum windows/doors.
• Budget-conscious construction.
✅ What I Need from the Freelancer:
• Proposed site layout plan (showing how to position the extensions and cottages on the yard).
• Basic floor plan for:
• The house extension layout (open-plan conversion and modernization of the old house).
• The 5 guest cottages.
• Simple 3D concept drawings for both house extension and cottages.
• Basic material estimate / rough Bill of Quantities (BoQ).
• The design must consider simple cost-effective construction with functional layout.
• Experience in South African building styles is preferred.
✅ Deliverables:
• Full site plan layout (PDF or CAD).
• Floor plans for both house extension and cottages.
• Exterior 3D visualizations for concept presentation.
• Basic BoQ for initial costing.
