Farm Shop/family retreat
Budget: $10 – $30 USD
I'm looking for an architectural designer to help me create plans for a farm shop/family retreat. Essentially a barn with weekend living quarters. This will be a Farm shop/barn. with 2 offices, 1 full bathroom, 1 kitchen, 1 machine room. All inputs are appreciated. We have a pretty good idea of what we want to build, but are open to suggestions with functionality, esthetics, materials, finishes, etc. This building will function as a farm building to store our tractor and other farm equipment in one lean-to and have bathroom/offices on the other lean-to. The center building will be open for family gathering, wood stove, couches (pull out), TV, long dining table to seat as many as 14. etc..... We will be using this building as a family retreat on the weekends.
We have a builder. Specializes in barns and garages. Metal exterior sheathing and metal roofing. Lumber framing.
We will need full plans. including electrical and plumbing.
Key Inclusions:
- Concrete Slab foundation. Slab dimensions 70' wide x 60' deep.
- roof line dimensions 66' wide x 50' deep.
- Main building (center) dimensions 36' wide x 50' deep. Interior walls 14'. Sliding barn doors on front (pic idea attached) and garage door with windows on back of building.
- Woodstove
- 2 Lean-to's 14' wide x 50' deep
- Left lean-to space: workshop space (enclosed). Storage area for tractor equipment. partially enclosed.
- Right lean-to space: Bathroom with exterior door, and in-between 2 offices. Kitchen open to Center building. Patio space with windows and exterior door to enter Center building.
Framing materials: pole barn style. 6x6 poles
Truss: wood pitch? 6:12 ? Lean-tos 4:12.
Siding: metal
Roofing: metal
The ideal candidate for this project has experience in residential architectural design, specifically with barn structures. A background in drafting and a good understanding of space optimization will be key.
