Carport Enclosure

Bought a house from an older gentleman that had enclosed an existing carport as an extra bedroom/bath combo. We paid cash for the house so no inspections or apprasials were done at the time of purchase, so we did not know he didnt pull permit for the enclosure of the carport, until our homeowners insurance company told us the house was only considered a 1 bedroom 1 bath according to the county records. We need an engineer to help so we dont get in trouble with the county
