Architectural

The apartment was created by the design team at Infraestudio using two local architectural typologies: palm-wood-covered dry tobacco houses and indigenous cabins from Cuba's western interior, each of which has a separate room created by the roof opening up all sides of the ground floor. The public spaces are concentrated in an open layout in the lowest portion of the structure. Since there are no walls or columns to support the main room's volume, it looks to be hanging from the ceiling, leaving the communal areas free. The basement, where the private guestrooms are set up, is connected by a long, thin terrace that stretches along both sides. The house can only lean on its two 14-meter-long beams thanks to the portico.
