Past Paper Storage MVP Development
Budget: £250 – £750 GBP
MVP Brief – Online Past Paper Repository (Inspired by PMT)
We’re building a minimal viable product (MVP) for an online past paper platform, heavily inspired by Physics & Maths Tutor. It will be developed using Bubble.io, with a clean structure and scalability in mind.
Core MVP Features
1. User Login & Access
User sign-up and login functionality (Bubble's default user authentication is fine)
Users can create an account with email + password
Logged-in users can:
Browse, search, and download papers
Bookmark/favourite papers
For MVP, no admin/user permission levels needed beyond basic login
2. Homepage & Search
Clean, minimal interface
Homepage shows:
List of subjects
A search box like AutoTrader’s: dropdown-based filters that auto-update based on previous inputs
3. Two Core Navigation Methods
Method 1: Search Box (Dynamic Filtering)
Dropdown filters for:
Qualification (GCSE, IGCSE, A-Level, IB)
Subject (Maths, English, Biology, etc.)
Tier (only if applicable)
Exam Board
Paper Type (Paper / Mark Scheme / Model Answer)
Logic:
If subject = [Maths, Bio, Chem, Physics], show tier buttons (Higher/Foundation)
If subject = Maths → allow Paper 1, 2, 3. Else → Paper 1, 2 only
Method 2: Drill-Down Menu (Step-by-Step Navigation)
Step 1: Qualification →
Step 2: Subject →
Step 3: Exam Board →
Step 4: Tier (if applicable) →
Step 5: List of Papers
Each selection loads a new screen with the next set of buttons (no scrolling – full-page transition each time).
4. Past Paper Display
Display format:
| Paper | Mark Scheme | Model Answer | Examiner Report |
Show paper title (e.g. “Paper 1 – Higher – June 2022”)
Each file should have a download button or clickable link that opens in a new tab
Add optional icon/indicator for file type
Data Structure
Each file in the database should include:
qualification, subject, exam board, year, paper number, tier, season
Booleans for: markscheme, premade
Tags: topics_covered (list of topics)
Type: “Question Paper”, “Mark Scheme”, or “Model Answer”
Admin Panel
Manual upload OR bulk import via CSV
Tag multiple topics per file
Toggle fields (mark scheme, model answer, etc.)
Filtering & Search Rules
Dropdown filters must dynamically update based on selected values
Ensure logic works for:
Subjects that do/don’t use tiers
Correct paper numbers per subject
File Hosting
Files (PDFs) hosted within Bubble or linked via external URLs
Users click to open/download papers in a new tab
UX Inspiration
Follow the layout and flow of PMT’s past paper section. Wireframes available.
Tech & Delivery
Platform: Bubble.io
Clear, scalable database structure
Fast filtering and mobile responsive
Clean, modular UI – designed to scale with new subjects and papers
We can provide a sample dataset or CSV file for development/testing.
Looking forward to working with you!
