Scientific Lab Branding Design
Budget: $10 – $30 USD

### Design Direction
**Core concept:** A single mark that embodies the lab's scientific signature — the Raman spectral peak as diagnostic signal, optionally arising from or integrated with nanostructure geometry (hexagonal lattice, gold nanosphere array, or molecular bond form). This should feel derived, not decorative — as if the mark *is* the science, not an illustration of it.
**Aesthetic:** Minimalist, precise, considered. No gradients unless they serve a specific spectral purpose. No clipart biology (no DNA helices, no generic microscopes). Geometry over illustration. Restraint over complexity.
**Typography:** One typeface family, two weights maximum. Recommend exploring: **Neue Haas Grotesk, ABC Diatype, Söhne, or Graphik**. The lab name is long — typographic treatment must solve this gracefully, likely with a weight or size contrast between "Nano Spectral" and "Bio-diagnostic Lab," or an acronym treatment (NSBD Lab) as a secondary form.
**Color palette — Option 1 (preferred):**
- Primary: Deep navy #0F1B35
- Accent: Spectral gold #C8963C *(referencing gold nanoparticles — Au — the literal material of SERS substrates)*
- Neutral: Off-white #F5F3EE for light versions
**Color palette — Option 2 (alternative):**
- Primary: Dark teal #0B3D40
- Accent: Bioluminescent cyan #4FD1C5
- Neutral: #F7F8F8
Please develop Option 1 fully. Present Option 2 as a direction study only if time allows.

### Deliverables
**Two core designs:**
**1. Full Lockup** — primary mark + full lab name
- Horizontal layout (for website header, email signature, office prints)
- Stacked layout (square-ish, for print applications)
**2. Standalone Mark** — icon only, no text
- Must read at 16×16px (favicon) and at 600mm wide (entrance signage) without modification
**Versions of each:** light background + dark background = 4 master artboards
**Export package:**
| File | Use |
|---|---|
| .ai source | All artboards, layers named, fonts outlined + live |
| .svg | Web use, each variant |
| .pdf (print-ready, CMYK) | Entrance, office prints |
| .png 1× and 2× transparent | Email signatures, documents |
| .ico + .svg favicon set | Website |
**Total: approximately 12–14 export files.**
---
### What to Avoid
- Generic pharma or hospital aesthetics
- Gradient-heavy or glossy treatments
- Illustrative biology clichés (DNA, cells, microscopes)
- More than two typeface weights
- Any mark that doesn't scale cleanly to favicon size
---
### References to Study
Look at identity work for: **Stripe, Vercel, Linear** (for precision + restraint), and **Leica Camera** (for scientific instrument credibility). Not to copy — to calibrate the level of craft expected."
