Elegant Gala Logo Design

I'm seeking a talented designer to create an elegant and sophisticated logo for a nonprofit medical society presidential gala.
Possible Elements:
- Rod of Asclepius (single snake, no wings)
- Medical cross
- Monochromatic or complementary color schemes, as appropriate
Ideal Skills & Experience:
- Strong portfolio in sophisticated event logo design
- Experience with medical-related symbols
- Proficiency in color theory and application
Please share relevant work samples and your approach to this project. I've included the organization's logo as well as last year's. The team didn't like the circle around it primarily but also would be open to other styling (such as something kind of like the "gala example" file also included).
