Psychological Horror Story Editor Needed

Job ID: 40504742

Budget: $15 – $25 USD

My psychological horror manuscript is ready for its next pass and I want the edit to zero-in on character development while preserving its slow-building suspense. I’m satisfied with the core plot and atmosphere, but the characters still feel thinner than I’d like; their motivations, reactions, and emotional shifts need to resonate more deeply with readers without disturbing the story’s deliberate pace or the creeping dread already on the page.

Alongside that primary focus, I’d also value light proofreading, tightened sentence flow, and any small suggestions that further heighten tension without changing my voice. All edits should be provided in Microsoft Word using Track Changes so I can review each adjustment easily.

Deliverables
• A fully marked-up Word document with tracked edits
• A short editorial memo (1–2 pages) explaining major character-focused recommendations and the reasoning behind them

Acceptance criteria
• Character motivations, fears, and choices read as believable and consistent from start to finish
• No loss of the manuscript’s slow, escalating suspense
• All copy-level edits are clean, error-free, and visible in Track Changes

The draft will be shared as soon as we agree on milestones, and I’m aiming for a quick yet thorough turnaround.
