Light structure plus copy editing and proofreading 50k non fiction health/medical
Budget: €12 – €18 EUR
I published my first book last year on Ketamine Therapy, an extraordinary medical breakthrough for treating depression.
IV Ketamine Infusions for Depression: Why I Tried It, Why It’s Like, and If It Worked, came out well. https://www.amazon.com/IV-Ketamine-Infusion-Therapy-Depression-ebook/dp/B095WC23KH.
This second book (working title: Considering Ketamine) expands on that first work.
I’m not a physician, so I do not prescribe or sell Ketamine. I write these books to spread the word about this miraculous therapy and to cement my authority in this space. I’ve begun doing podcasts and hope to speak live as covid subsides.
My current draft manuscript is ~50k. I want to find someone who can do some overall organization of my manuscript down to the copy editing and proofreading.
Most important quality I look for in an editor: opinionated, and motivated by market-oriented logic for suggesting what to leave on the editing room floor.
The goal of this book is to 1) introduce people that haven’t heard about this innovative treatment to its fundamentals and 2) use my own story as the vehicle for exploring the facts and providing examples.
My first book focused on what depressed patients needed to know to go through the whole “ketamine journey” from research to recovery. This 2nd book includes small sections on various mental, pain, and addiction-related illnesses. It also covers much more of the tips, tricks, and insights that I’ve learned through my healing journey.
Because psychedelic therapy is en vogue and ketamine is receiving so much attention, people are very interested in how it may help them. But psychedelic therapy has one downside: it’s mysterious. That’s why a book from an experienced patient with a medical background is so valuable: it bridges this unique gap of myths and anxieties.
My manuscript is currently in Scrivener and in .odt/.docx. I need your help applying the appropriate style and to include via chapter in the Endnotes of the book.
I’m looking for someone that “cares about the work.” By that, I mean someone who finds personal connections to the topic and genuinely feels its importance. Ketamine saves lives every day. I know that because I’m one of them.
Please respond with your rates, timetable, required materials/processes/tools, and how you particularly connect with the project.
I appreciate your time and hope to find a win-win collaboration!
