Realistic African Folktale Illustration Book

Job ID: 40356361

Budget: $250 – $750 USD

I’m putting together an illustrated collection of African folktales and need an artist–storyteller team (or one very talented individual) who can deliver a complete, print-ready book. The project will cover 11-15 timeless stories drawn from diverse regions of the continent, and every page should capture the cultural essence in a realistic illustration style rather than cartoon or abstract art.

Here’s what I’m aiming for:

• Each tale laid out with cleaned-up, engaging text (English) on one page or spread, paired with a full-page, high-resolution realistic illustration that reflects traditional settings, characters, clothing and landscapes accurately.
• A cohesive visual language across all stories—consistent palette, line work and proportion—so the book feels like one curated volume.
• Final deliverable: press-ready PDF (CMYK, bleed marks included) plus layered source files (PSD or Procreate) and separate 300 dpi JPEG/PNG images for digital marketing.

Accuracy and respect for African cultures are paramount, so I’ll provide story drafts, reference notes and photo inspiration; your research input is welcome too. If you’ve illustrated folklore, historical scenes or children’s literature in a realistic manner before, please share samples. Let me know your estimated timeline for sketches, revisions and final art—ideally we can wrap production within 6-8 weeks.

Looking forward to collaborating on a visually stunning celebration of Africa’s rich storytelling heritage.
