Non-Fiction Book Design
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
I am looking for an experienced professional book designer / DTP specialist to prepare a full non-fiction biography/autobiography for print.
The manuscript is approximately 400 pages and is already completed in Word format. The book contains both text and images and will be printed as a high-quality hardcover book.
Key requirements:
– Complete interior book layout (long-form text, chapters, images, captions)
– Hardcover book cover design (front, spine, back)
– Final trim size: 17 × 24 cm
– Mixed content:
• approx. 300 pages black & white (uncoated paper)
• approx. 100 pages full color (4+4)
– Proper margins for hardcover, section sewn binding
– Image handling (300 dpi, CMYK where required)
– Final delivery as print-ready PDF (PDF/X-1a or PDF/X-4) suitable for professional offset printing
Design style:
– Classic, elegant, timeless book design
– Strong focus on readability and print quality
Language:
– Knowledge of Norwegian is an advantage, as the book text is in Norwegian, but it is not a requirement.
– Fluent English communication is sufficient.
Ideal skills and experience:
– Proven experience with printed books (not only e-books)
– Strong Adobe InDesign skills
– Experience preparing files for offset printing and hardcover production
