Children’s Book & Journal Design
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
I’m gearing up to launch two separate print-on-demand titles and would like to partner with a versatile graphic designer-illustrator who can take each book from manuscript to press-ready files.
Project 1 – Children’s Picture Book
• Create original, cartoonish characters that feel warm, expressive, and memorable.
• Illustrate lively scenes featuring family moments—kids with pets, at school, with friends, and on everyday outings.
• Supply a full interior set: cover concept, character sheet, scene thumbnails, and finished full-color spreads (exact page count to be confirmed together).
• Provide layered source files (Adobe Illustrator or Procreate) plus print-ready PDFs in CMYK.
Project 2 – Weekly Inspirational Journal
Responsibilities:
• Create fun and original children’s book illustrations (characters, scenes, and layouts).
• Add creative illustrations and design elements to the completed journal manuscript.
• Format books for Amazon KDP, IngramSpark, or similar POD platforms (bleed, margins, spine, barcode, etc.).
• Deliver print-ready files (PDF, EPUB, or required formats).
• Design professional book covers that align with the themes (playful for kids, calming/inspirational for journals).
Requirements:
• Proven experience in children’s book illustration and/or journal design.
• Knowledge of KDP formatting, book layout, and print-ready design.
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, or Canva Pro.
• Portfolio showing children’s books, journals, or other formatted publications.
• Deliver a complete print-on-demand package: cover, interior template, and embedded fonts, sized for KDP or IngramSpark.
I’ll supply final manuscripts, trim sizes, and any imprint specifications. You’ll guide me through milestones—concept sketches, feedback rounds, color finals, and press-ready export—so we stay on schedule and on spec.
Provide your portfolio showing cartoonish character work and experience preparing books for POD platforms, and examples of formatted books/journals, and your rates or pricing structure. Submit to review and discuss timelines.
