Vintage Horror Camp Book Cover
Budget: $10 – $30 USD
My 80s-set teen novel follows a group of kids who shoot a slasher flick at summer camp, so the cover has to scream vintage horror from the moment someone sees it. Think well-worn VHS artwork rather than polished modern minimalism: grainy textures, dramatic lighting, and a slightly distressed look that feels pulled straight off a video-store shelf.
Mood & palette
Dark, moody tones are essential—deep forest greens, midnight blues and blood-hinted reds should dominate so the page instantly signals danger after dusk.
Key imagery
The camp itself and unmistakable slasher-movie cues must share the spotlight. A moonlit lakeside, looming pines, maybe a weathered clapperboard or blood-flecked reel can frame the teens’ peril without showing explicit gore. I want viewers to know we’re on set yet still trapped inside a horror story.
What I need from you
• Front cover design ready for Kindle and other e-book platforms (RGB, 300 dpi, 2 560 px height or larger)
• Full wrap for print—front, spine, back—sized for a 6"×9" paperback (CMYK, 300 dpi, include bleed)
• Editable layered source file (PSD or AI) plus flattened high-res JPEG/PDF finals
• Commercial rights transferred on delivery
Acceptance
The final artwork must capture the vintage-horror vibe, use dark and moody colors as the dominant scheme, and feature both the camp setting and slasher-movie elements clearly at first glance. Once those cues land and files pass pre-press checks, we’re done.
