Turn Dissertation into Marketable Book
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
I have a completed academic dissertation on nonprofit financial sustainability strategies that I now want to share with busy nonprofit and civic society leaders, funders, and policy advocates. The goal is to educate these professionals, not overwhelm them with theory, so the manuscript needs to be reshaped into an accessible, commercially viable book that highlights practical applications they can put to work immediately.
Here’s what I need:
– A skilled writer who can distill dense chapters into clear, engaging prose while preserving the rigor of the research. Think “airport-read friendly” rather than “journal article.” Transitional text, anecdotal openings, and concise chapter summaries should guide the reader straight to the take-aways.
– A creative designer who can translate the material into an engaging and colorful layout. Infographics, call-out boxes, icons, and case-study sidebars should break up the text and reinforce key concepts. I’m aiming for a professional yet lively aesthetic that will resonate with conference attendees and board-room audiences alike.
Deliverables will include: an edited manuscript (≈55–65k words once adapted), front-matter and back-matter drafts, cover design (print and e-book), fully laid-out interior files ready for POD and EPUB distribution, and a short style guide so future editions remain consistent.
If you have experience turning research into practitioner-focused publications and can marry strong narrative flow with visually inviting design, I’d love to collaborate.
