Engaging Kids' Book on Energy Concepts
Budget: $15 – $25 USD
Create a short book for kindergarten - 3rd graders on energy concepts. Please submit a sample of chapter 1 for the contest. The winner will create the entire book and I will provide a bonus in addition to contest payment.
• Ideal Length: 55–64 pages
• Notes:
• Use large fonts, illustrations, and lots of white space.
• Books should be highly visual, with interactive elements like flaps, questions, or simple experiments.
• Focus on short, digestible lessons (1–2 pages per topic).

Chapter 1 – What Is Energy?
• Lesson Focus: Energy makes things happen (movement, light, sound, heat).
• Activities: Sorting cards into “energy/no energy,” classroom energy walk.
• ELA Tie-in: Vocabulary (energy, move, heat, light, sound). Students write 1–2 sentences: “Energy makes ___ happen.”
• Math Tie-in: Count how many things in the room use energy. Make a class graph.
• Art Tie-in: Draw one object that uses energy.

Chapter 2 – The Sun Is Our Powerhouse
• Lesson Focus: The Sun provides energy for warmth and life.
• Activities: Black vs. white paper heat test, plant growth discussion.
• ELA Tie-in: Read-aloud: The Sun is My Favorite Star by Frank Asch → write/draw “The Sun gives energy to ___.”
• Math Tie-in: Compare temperatures on black/white paper using simple subtraction.
