Book Cover Improvement: Text & Image and file specs
Budget: $10 – $50 USD
Colleagues, I could use help finalizing a book cover. I used AI to generate the attached image which I'm fairly happy with, but the title font needs improvement. I have a separate version where I liked the font much better, but I could not get AI to restore it without messing up something else. So it's graphics, not a layered font, and I just want to touch it up a little. I will show you what I mean.
Secondly, the man looks too young; he's supposed to be 26 years old but he looks more like 20, and the book is for adults so I need him to look more mature. I can send the selected artist an image with the look I want.
There is one other very minor tweak I will describe to the selected artist - and I'm open to other suggestions. The cover is for Kindle so I do not need spine or back cover in this version. If I need them in the future that would be a separate project.
The output files need to be upscaled from the 96 dpi version I've attached (see notes below).
My budget for this work is quite low; while I'd love to have a cover fully developed from scratch by an artist, with no AI involved, I cannot afford it for a self-published book that is unlikely to produce much revenue. You must agree not use AI for any of your work - and you should not need to.

Final Output Size: 1600 × 2560 px (portrait)
Aspect ratio: 1:1.6 (portrait)
DPI: 300
RGB color space (not CMYK)
Output File Formats:
- High‑quality JPEG (RGB)
- High‑quality PNG (RGB)
The attached 1024 × 1536 cover is my near‑final design. Please adjust the canvas to the Kindle‑recommended 1600 × 2560 ratio by trimming or extending the background as needed.
Quality Requirements:
No visible compression artifacts
Clean, sharp text
Smooth edges after upscaling
Final export must be crisp at both full size and thumbnail size
Once these are in hand and the artwork prints cleanly at full size, the job is complete. But I need to provide the selected artist with two images showing the desired changes to the title font and the young man.
I will make a selection decision on Monday, May 18, and would hope for a finished product within a week.
