Bittersweet Coming of Age Book Thumbnail Art
Budget: ₹1,500 – ₹12,500 INR
I'm seeking a talented illustrator to create a book thumbnail for a coming of age drama. The story features 14-15 year old boys and girls in an ordinary high school in Uttar Pradesh. I prefer that the main character (an angsty/broody teenager) be depicted on the cover, in a style that's somewhere between quirky adult animation (Bojack Horseman) and somber teen anime (Chainsaw man). The cover should encapsulate the bittersweet tone of the story and may include scenery (an old classroom?), and symbolic objects (this is where your creativity comes in) from INDIAN high schools in the 2008-2012 time period.
Ideal Skills:
- Ability to convey complex emotions through imagery
- Proficiency in creating catchy but deep/symbolic images
- Skill in designing characters that convey emotion
Please note that at this moment I'm looking for a THUMBNAIL and not a full book cover. The thumbnail will be smaller than a book cover (180x270 to be precise). Because of the smaller size, I imagine the design will have to be focused on fewer things (compared to a book cover). That means convey the meaning in fewer things.
Please provide a portfolio showcasing similar work. Happy to answer any questions about the story or help you brainstorm the design.
