Realistic Adventure Fantasy Book Cover - 29/05/2024 21:43 EDT
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
I'm seeking a skilled illustrator adept in realistic styles to create an engaging cover for my adventure-themed fantasy book. It's essential that the cover art expresses the adventure theme and uses a cool color scheme of blues, greens, and purples.
Ideal Skills And Experience:
- Proficiency in creating realistic illustrations
- Strong understanding of color theory
- Prior experience in book cover design
- Familiarity with fantasy genre
The cover should intrigue potential readers while staying true to the theme of fantasy and adventure. Please share your portfolio that showcases similar work.
I have a very clear and specific image in my head of how I want my cover to look. My book, The Liar & the Knight, needs a cover that shows its protagonist, Sir Willam Hornsby, looking up at the Hollow Mountain (which I describe as being very lush and green) and he needs to have an orange and black tiger-striped squirrel on his shoulder looking up at it with him. I need someone who is willing to work with me on this vision at an affordable price, and also someone who understands how cover art works in terms of being applied to ebook and paperback formats.
Specifics:
Font can be Times New Roman
Size: I want the book's dimensions to be 5.5 inches by 8 inches
I want an illustration.
I want the cover to convey a sense of wonder and something looming. The quest, the mountain, and a sense of something more.
No use of stock imagery, and cartoonish or poppy styles. I don't want a realistic cover in the sense that it has real pictures or anything, but I want the characters and images on the cover to look as realistic as they can for being illustrated.
I want my protagonist, Sir Willam Hornsby, to be at the center of the cover, towards the bottom, with a squirrel-like creature on his shoulder with a bushy tail and long ears and tiger striped fur. Both of them are going to be looking up at the Hollow Mountain, which is a lush green mountain. Sir Willam has short brown hair and a black cloak. I want to be able to see his sword scabbard sticking out a little bit from behind. I also want to see outlines of a city in front of him, and this is where I am open to a little bit of creative license on the illustrator's part. The town he is stepping into on the cover, which sits at the base of the Hollow Mountain, is called Biverna, and the houses in it are described as being made of dark stone or wood and having dirt roofs with flowers and other plants growing from them. I would love to find an artist who can have fun with this part. It is not the focus of the cover, the focus is Sir Willam, the squirrel, and the mountain, but if I could find an artist who can make Biverna come to life in their own, unique way, while keeping Sir Willam as the focus of the cover, I would be very happy.
I was thinking the title could be right above the mountain peak, but am open to creative suggestions, and the same for my name at the bottom, below Sir Willam and the rest of the art. If there are creative ways these can be brought into the art or something like that I'd be open to seeing what you can come up with.
