Bluetooth HID Pen Prototype

Job ID: 40499322

Budget: €250 – €750 EUR

I want to prove that a pen-shaped gadget can masquerade as a Bluetooth HID and reliably control media on an iPhone. All I need right now is a working one-off prototype; certification, refined industrial design, and long-term battery optimisation can wait.

Core requirements
• The electronics must fit inside a pen body (a 3D-printed tube is fine).
• On power-up it should pair with an iPhone as a standard HID remote.
• A single tactile button will cycle through Play/Pause → Next Track → Previous Track in that order, sending the appropriate consumer-control codes.
• I’m flexible on the radio stack—Bluetooth Classic or BLE, whichever gets the job done fastest.
• Robust, repeatable functionality matters more than looks.

What I expect to receive
1. A fully assembled, pen-sized prototype that performs the three media commands as described.
2. Firmware source and simple build instructions so I can reflash or tweak later.
3. A short write-up (parts list, schematic or wiring diagram, and any quirks to note) proving the concept is sound.

I’m comfortable if you build around common dev modules such as nRF52, ESP32, or similar; choose what you know best. As long as you can demonstrate the prototype controlling music on an iPhone during a quick video call, I’ll consider the milestone complete.
