Trailer Door IoT Alert Prototype

Budget: $250 – $750 USD

I’m looking to turn my concept for a trailer-door security device into a fully working prototype. After a recent theft attempt, I need the system to be rock-solid: every time the doors are opened or tampered with, I want an instant mobile-app notification on my phone.

Core functionality
• Hardware: combine magnetic sensors for clean open/close detection with vibration sensors for forced-entry or impact events.
• Electronics & firmware: select a low-power MCU, integrate the two sensor types, and push data over cellular or Wi-Fi to a secure cloud endpoint.
• Mobile app: build one code-base (Flutter, React Native, or similar) so I receive real-time alerts on both iOS and Android. A simple dashboard showing status, last event time-stamp, and battery/connection health is enough for this stage.

Scope of work
1. Design the hardware schematic, BOM, and enclosure suggestion suitable for outdoor, trailer-mounted use.
2. Develop and flash the firmware with reliable debounce/noise filtering so false positives stay under control.
3. Spin up a lightweight backend (Firebase, AWS IoT, or your preferred stack) to route events to the phones.
4. Produce the cross-platform app, including background notifications and a basic settings screen (alert tone on/off, test mode, firmware update trigger).
5. Ship me one assembled, tested prototype, plus all code and documentation so I can reproduce or scale it later.

Acceptance criteria
• Door open or shock event triggers a notification on both my iPhone and Android within three seconds in normal network conditions.
• No more than one false alert in 24 hours during vibration-heavy road tests.
• Battery life estimate of at least two weeks between charges, validated with a real-world run.
