Residential BOQ Preparation

Hello,

I am a domestic builder based in Victoria, Australia. I am looking to engage an experienced quantity take-off specialist on an ongoing casual basis to assist with our residential project estimation process.

This role is focused purely on measurement and quantity extraction — not rate setting or pricing.

You will be provided with architectural and structural drawings (PDF and occasionally DWG) and will extract measurable elements including materials, preliminaries, and plant. Quantities must be presented in predefined categories supplied by us so they can be uploaded directly into our estimating software (Wunderbuild).

You may use whichever take-off software you are comfortable with (CostX, Bluebeam, BuildSoft, PlanSwift, Excel, etc.) provided the final document is structured, clear, and editable.

Deliverables:

Itemised BOQ broken down into our supplied categories

Clear units and quantities (m, m², m³, itemised counts, etc.)

Brief but clear descriptions

A summary sheet linking back to detailed pages

Notes outlining any assumptions, exclusions, or provisional allowances

Requirements:

Demonstrated experience with residential construction take-offs

Strong attention to detail

Clear and professional communication

Ability to ask clarifying questions when required

Understanding of Australian residential construction preferred

Familiarity with Wunderbuild is a bonus (not essential)

We will provide floor plans, elevations, schedules, engineering drawings, and any additional documentation required. We value accuracy and clarity and are happy to answer questions during the process to ensure nothing is missed.

This is ongoing work for the right person. We are looking to build a consistent working relationship, not a one-off engagement.
