• A matching engine that handles simple market/limit orders, shows real-time order book depth, and calculates fees accurately.
• Responsive front-end (React or similar) with intuitive deposit, trade, and withdrawal flows plus a live dashboard of balances and price charts.
• REST/GraphQL APIs so mobile clients or third-party partners can hook in later.
• Basic KYC/AML hooks (ID upload, sanctions screening) to keep the compliance path clear.
• Docker-based deployment scripts and concise documentation so I can spin up test, staging, and production environments with minimal friction.

Acceptance criteria: a working MVP on my cloud account, test cases proving accurate balance reconciliation after at least 1,000 simulated trades, and hand-over of all source code with a README that lets another developer stand the project up in under an hour.
