Blockchain Food Traceability Platform

Job ID: 39839922

Budget: ₹12,500 – ₹37,500 INR

I'm launching India's first D2C blockchain-based grocery brand and need a complete blockchain traceability system built on my existing Azure Ubuntu server. The system will enable farmers to upload product data (harvest info + images) which gets stored immutably on blockchain, then displayed to consumers via QR code scanning - similar to how DailyGurus operates but with our own private blockchain infrastructure.

Technical Requirements
Blockchain Infrastructure
Platform: Private Ethereum network using Geth (Go Ethereum)

Consensus: Clique (Proof-of-Authority) for low transaction volume

Server: Deploy on existing Azure Ubuntu server

Expected Volume: Maximum 15 transactions per week (very low volume)

Network: Private blockchain (not public Ethereum)

Smart Contract Development
Language: Solidity

Contract Functions:

addHarvestEvent(batchId, farmerName, location, imageHash)

addProcessingEvent(batchId, processType, qualityReportHash)

getBatchHistory(batchId) - returns complete product journey

Features: Event logging, access controls, immutable data storage

Deployment: Using Truffle framework

Backend API System
Framework: Node.js with Express.js

Blockchain Integration: ethers.js library for smart contract interaction

Image Storage: Firebase Storage integration (free tier)

API Endpoints:

POST /api/harvest - accepts farmer data + image uploads

POST /api/processing - records processing events

GET /api/batch/:batchId - retrieves complete batch history

Security: Environment variables for private keys, CORS enabled

Frontend Consumer Interface
Technology: HTML/CSS/JavaScript with ethers.js

Functionality:

QR code scanning support

Batch ID parameter handling (?batch=ABC123)

Timeline display of product journey

Responsive design for mobile devices

Hosting: Nginx on Azure server with SSL support

System Integration
Web Server: Nginx configuration for static files + API proxy

Mobile App: REST API integration for existing Android app

QR Code Generation: Dynamic QR codes linking to batch pages

Database: Blockchain serves as immutable database

Deliverables Expected
Core System
Private Ethereum blockchain running on Azure server with mining enabled

Smart contract deployed and verified for food traceability

REST API server handling image uploads and blockchain interactions

Consumer web interface for QR code-based product verification

Complete deployment on provided Azure Ubuntu server

Security & Production Readiness
Secure key management using environment variables

Basic monitoring and health check scripts

Automated backup system for blockchain data

SSL certificate configuration (Let's Encrypt)

Basic firewall and security hardening

Documentation
System architecture overview

API documentation with example requests/responses

Deployment guide for maintenance

Basic troubleshooting procedures

Technical Stack Preference
Blockchain: Geth, Solidity, Truffle

Backend: Node.js, Express.js, ethers.js

Frontend: Vanilla HTML/CSS/JavaScript (no complex frameworks)

Storage: Firebase (free tier), Azure server storage

Web Server: Nginx

Project Constraints
Budget: Looking for cost-effective solution

Timeline: Need complete system operational within 2-3 weeks

Scalability: System designed for low transaction volume (15/week)

Maintenance: Should be simple to maintain with basic technical knowledge

Success Criteria
Farmers can upload harvest data + images via simple interface

All data gets stored immutably on private blockchain

Consumers can scan QR codes to view complete product journey

System provides cryptographic proof of authenticity (like DailyGurus demo)

Ready for production use with basic FSSAI compliance support

Additional Information
I have existing Azure server infrastructure ready

Looking for someone experienced with private blockchain development

System should be production-ready but not enterprise-scale complexity

Priority on reliability and simplicity over advanced features

Please include in your proposal: Estimated timeline, your experience with similar blockchain traceability projects, and approach to ensuring the system is production-ready for a food business launch.
