Add one function to existing contract

I have contract I'm testing that currently works on testnet which lets me add eth to the contract and I want to add one function inside of that which would read the current balance of the smart contract.

if the balance == certain amount, I want the smart contract to send a transaction to address I specify.

should be pretty straight forward and simple. Looking to complete right away. Thanks.
