Snap-Fit Prototype Case Modeling
Budget: $10 – $30 USD
I have a working electronics prototype that now needs a clean, plastic enclosure that is going to be 3d printed. All critical board and connector dimensions are already measured, and I can share a rough Blender file plus reference photos of a similar commercial case that shows the overall look I’m after.
Scope
• Model the enclosure in Blender only—no AutoCAD or SolidWorks this time.
• Design a tool-free, snap-fit closure so the case can be opened and resealed repeatedly. No screws, magnets or latches unless we discover a snap-fit simply won’t work.
• Keep wall thickness and draft angles practical for standard FDM or SLA printing in ABS/PLA.
• Ensure internal standoffs, ribs and cable reliefs align with the part dimensions I’ll supply.
Deliverables
• Native .blend file with well-named, modifiable objects.
• Watertight STL (and STEP if convenient) ready for print.
• Short note or screenshots explaining how the snap tabs engage and how the halves separate.
Acceptance
I’ll test-fit the first print; if every component seats without forcing and the lid clicks on/off smoothly, the job is done. Iterations are fine—I just need someone who can turn them around quickly and sensibly, not “for a mountain” of cost.
