3D Sculpted Bas-Relief STL for Acoustic Guitar Rosette Mold
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
I am looking for a 3D digital sculptor / bas-relief artist, not just a mechanical CAD modeler, to create a CNC-ready STL for a custom acoustic guitar rosette mold.
This is a circular ring-shaped relief that will be used to machine a mold for pressing layered micarta/paper composite material. The final visual effect should feel like a flowing Damascus/terrain pattern, with the word CARLSON subtly hidden within the sculpted surface.
The goal is not simple raised text, embossed lettering, engraved lettering, or letters with a bevel/fillet. The entire ring needs to be a continuous sculpted flowing surface. The letters should form the high points/peaks of the terrain, while the negative spaces and areas between letters should flow smoothly down into valleys. There should be no flat stamped-looking areas between letters, inside letters, or between repeated words.
Fixed dimensions:
* Outer diameter: 5.558”
* Inner diameter: 4.308”
* Ring width: 0.625”
* Maximum relief range from highest peaks to deepest valleys: 0.13”
The final STL must stay within this dimensional envelope because the ring will be CNC-machined as a mold and later used for an acoustic guitar rosette inlay. The inner and outer circular boundaries need to remain accurate and clean.
I can provide:
* Reference sketches
* Existing STL reference file
* SVG/vector files
* Photos of previous test pieces and examples of what needs to be improved
The current reference model looks too much like raised/beveled text on a mostly flat ring. I need the design to feel more like continuous sculpted terrain or mountain-range relief, where the letters are discovered within the surface rather than obviously stamped on top of it.
This project is likely best suited for someone experienced with ZBrush, Blender sculpting, organic bas-relief, relief sculpture for CNC, jewelry relief, coin/medallion relief, ornamental carving, or sculpted terrain-style surfaces.
I am open to starting with either the full ring or a small paid test section if the freelancer feels that would be the best way to confirm the sculpting style before completing the full model.
Please include examples of previous work involving organic relief sculpting or similar surface design. I am specifically looking for someone with sculpting ability, not just basic 3D text or mechanical CAD experience.
I have attached a current reference render and a hand sketch. The render shows the general layout, but it is not the desired final surface style. The sketch better explains the goal: letters as terrain peaks with smooth transitions into valleys and no flat stamped areas.
I will share the working STL/SVG files with the selected freelancer or serious candidates.
