Organic Plantain Fiber Hair Formula

I’m developing a fully plant-based alternative to synthetic braiding hair and need a biomaterials expert who can turn raw plantain fiber into strands that feel soft and pliable against the skin. The priority is softness, but without relying on lye or any other harsh or toxic chemicals. I’m open to mechanical, biological, enzymatic or other chemical-free routes, and I’m happy to test plant-sourced emollients or conditioning agents as long as the final recipe stays genuinely natural and scalp-safe.
What I’m looking for from you is an end-to-end laboratory-ready formula—ingredient list, concentrations, processing steps, conditioning/finishing treatment, curing or drying parameters—plus evidence that the treated fibers meet a “soft touch” benchmark comparable to commercial kanekalon or toyokalon braids. If you already have a preferred test protocol for hand feel or tensile strength, let me know; otherwise please include simple evaluation methods I can replicate in-house.
To help me pitch this product to stylists, please add a brief explanation of the underlying science (e.g., how your chosen enzymes, surfactants or oils modify lignocellulosic structure) and a basic cost projection per kilogram of finished fiber.
