I am seeking an experienced professional to design an intraocular lens (IOL) with retinal capabilities that can bypass damaged retinal cells by combining aspects of traditional IOL technology and advanced retinal prosthetics.
Key Features:
- The lens must provide comprehensive vision correction, addressing near-sightedness, far-sightedness, astigmatism and retinal processing by either stimulating the retina directly or by applying adaptive optics into the IOL to correct for distortions BEFORE it reaches the damaged retina.
- It should have the ability for retinal imaging, enhancing diagnostic capabilities.
- The lens needs to adjust to varying lighting conditions, demonstrating improved responsiveness compared to standard lenses.
- Primarily, the project aims to create a lens that significantly improves vision clarity, especially for patients who are suffering from inherited retinal diseases or advanced macular degeneration.
