I am employed at a government-based laboratory that caters to over 80% of the countries patients. Despite our extensive services, there is a noticeable absence of Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) testing for all types of cancers. I am based at a Sequencing Core Facility (SCF), an accredited laboratory equipped with a robust infrastructure capable of sequencing various biological samples. Over the past eight years, the SCF has successfully processed more than 100,000 whole genome sequences. This grant seeks to revolutionize cancer diagnostics by introducing comprehensive NGS testing that covers over 500 genes across most solid tumors, addressing a critical gap in our country. I need grant funding to perform a proof of concept study leveraging next-generation sequencing (NGS) to detect genetic mutations across different solid tumors, using a modest dataset of fewer than 100 samples.
