openEMR Billing Configuration Proof of Concept
Budget: $8 – $15 USD
I need a hands-on configuration of openEMR that demonstrates—end to end—how the platform can streamline our billing workflow and, in particular, handle insurance claim processing smoothly. The objective is a small but fully working proof of concept that proves we can gain real workflow efficiency before we commit to a wider rollout.
Scope
• Fresh install or re-configuration of an existing sandbox instance of openEMR (your choice, as long as access is easy for our team).
• Activation and tuning of every module, setting or add-on required to manage billing and invoicing, with special attention to insurance claim processing.
• Import of a tiny sample dataset so we can run a mock patient visit, generate the corresponding bill, and submit a test insurance claim.
• Walk-through session (screen-share is fine) showing where each configuration change was made and how the workflow runs from end to end.
• Short how-to document summarising the steps so we can reproduce the setup in another environment later.
Acceptance criteria
1. A mock claim can be created, submitted, and its status tracked inside openEMR without manual data re-entry.
2. The billing screen loads with no errors and reflects the customised fields we agree on.
3. Your documentation lets another team member duplicate the configuration in a clean install in under two hours.
If you already know the common quirks around clearinghouse integrations, CPT/ICD code imports, or EDI settings in openEMR, that will save us time, so feel free to highlight that in your bid. I will provide prompt feedback and quick access to the test server once we start.
