Duplex Pump Control Panel Development
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
Project Title:
Electrical Engineer – Design of Universal Duplex Pump Control Panel
Project Overview:
We are developing a standardized duplex pump control panel to be sold as a commercial product worldwide. The goal is to finalize professional electrical engineering drawings, schematics, and a build-ready package for a compact control panel that operates two 3-phase pumps up to 25HP.
The panel must be designed as a universal platform that can operate at 208/230V or 460V using simple component changes (conversion kits), without redesigning the control system.
This is a product-development project, not a one-time building job.
⸻
Scope of Work
The electrical engineer will be responsible for producing a complete construction-ready design package based on provided specifications, including:
1. Electrical Design and Drawings
• Single line diagram
• Power schematic
• Control ladder diagram
• Terminal strip layout
• Door device layout
• Internal component layout for a 30” x 24” x 10” enclosure
2. Bill of Materials
• Detailed BOM with manufacturer part numbers
• Two configurations:
• Initial 230V configuration
• 460V conversion kit configuration
3. Logic Implementation
• Implement provided operating logic:
• OFF / HAND / AUTO modes
• Lead/Lag alternation
• Remote RUN ENABLE input
• Failover on overload
• Phase loss and reversal protection
• Anti-short-cycle timing
4. Product Standardization
• Design must be reusable and repeatable
• Support NEMA 1, NEMA 3R, and NEMA 4 enclosure options
• Use IEC components for compact footprint
• Ensure design fits within 30x24x10 enclosure
5. Compliance and Documentation
• Design suitable for UL508A panel shop construction
• Wiring standards and labeling plan
• Installation and startup documentation outline
⸻
Design Requirements (Summary)
• Two pumps, up to 25HP each
• Three-phase operation
• Convertible between 230V and 460V
• Rotary fused disconnect
• IEC contactors and electronic overloads
• Phase monitor relay
• Multi-tap control transformer (208/240/480 → 120V)
• HOA selector and indicator lights
• Dry contact BMS interface:
• RUN ENABLE input
• Pump 1 status
• Pump 2 status
• Common alarm
⸻
Deliverables Required
• Complete schematic package in PDF and editable format
• BOM with part numbers and quantities
• Panel layout drawings
• Terminal maps
• Conversion kit documentation
• Files ready for a UL508A panel shop to build
⸻
Candidate Requirements
• Licensed or experienced electrical engineer
• Experience designing industrial control panels
• Knowledge of UL508A standards
• Familiarity with IEC motor controls
• Ability to produce professional schematics
⸻
How to Apply
Please respond with:
• Examples of similar control panel designs
• Estimated timeline
• Estimated cost
• Software you will use (AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, etc.)
This is the first version of a commercial product line, with potential for ongoing revisions and future projects.
