Beta Reader for “Tennebris”
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
My fantasy novel, “Tennebris,” is ready for a fresh set of eyes devoted to character development. I’m specifically concerned about how the supporting cast comes across—depth, motivations, consistency, and the chemistry they create around the protagonists. Grammar or plot holes are welcome side-notes, but your primary mission is to tell me whether these secondary voices feel alive and indispensable.
The manuscript is roughly 92,000 words and currently sits in a clean Word file, so tracked-changes and inline comments will be the most efficient way to annotate. I’d like chapter-by-chapter insights as well as an overall summary highlighting strengths, weak spots, and concrete suggestions I can act on during the next revision pass.
Deliverables
• A marked-up Word document with inline notes on each chapter
• A separate summary (2–4 pages) analysing the supporting characters’ arcs, believability, dialogue, and growth opportunities
• A short paragraph ranking the top three fixes you believe will create the biggest impact
When you submit your bid, please attach a brief project proposal outlining:
• How you typically structure beta-reading feedback focused on characters
• One or two past titles you’ve helped strengthen in a similar way (no need to share the manuscripts themselves)
• The timeline you’d need to return both the annotated file and the summary report
I’m eager to lock in a collaborator who can look past the surface and make these side characters shine. Looking forward to reading your detailed plan and, ultimately, your honest reactions to “Tennebris.”
