WordPress Markdown .MD file importer PLUGIN, PHP or BASH
Text me "I LOVE BASH" so that I know you wrote this text. Looking forward meeting you and going into an LONG TERM PROJECT.

Freelancers AI stuff:
I need a straightforward way to feed a collection of plain-text *.md files into WordPress and have each file appear as a published post without me touching the editor. A lightweight plugin (preferred) or a clean PHP/Bash script is fine as long as it drops seamlessly into an existing WordPress stack.
Core expectations
• Read local Markdown files and create posts automatically.
• Respect the file’s front-matter (title, date, slug) when it exists; fall back to sensible defaults when it doesn’t.
• Convert Markdown to HTML using a reliable parser so headings, code blocks, tables, and images remain intact.
• Place the content in the standard “post” type; if it’s simpler for you to wire it into a custom post type, let me know—I’m flexible.
Workflows I will consider
– Direct upload inside the admin area.
– Pointing the plugin at a server directory and running on a schedule or cron.
– Pulling from a remote URL or Git-tracked folder.
Tell me which path you’d like to implement and why; I only need one workflow done well, but if your solution lends itself to more, that’s a plus.
Nice-to-have touches (not mandatory, quote separately if they add real effort)
• Category or tag mapping via filename or front-matter.
• Optional error log I can read in wp-admin.
• A simple settings page to toggle the import interval or parser options.
Deliverable
A working, documented plugin (or script) I can drop into production, along with brief setup instructions and any composer/npm requirements.
