Ubuntu Linux Server Administrator
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
I operate several production workloads on Ubuntu 20.04/22.04 LTS cloud instances and want full-cycle server administration support. The scope covers server setup, maintenance and updates, and day-to-day troubleshooting and support, all on Linux—specifically Ubuntu.
During initial setup you’ll handle user management, SSH key deployment, partitioning, firewall rules (ufw), and basic hardening with tools such as fail2ban and Lynis. For ongoing maintenance I expect timely kernel and package upgrades through apt, automated backups, and system monitoring; Ansible playbooks or well-commented Bash scripts are welcome. When issues arise, log analysis, performance tuning, and recovery procedures should be executed quickly and documented in Git.
Deliverables
• A clean, hardened Ubuntu server ready for production
• Automated update and backup routines with clear documentation
• A concise run-book detailing troubleshooting steps and recovery workflows
Acceptance criteria: every change passes a test VPS first, produces zero critical security warnings, and is committed to Git. Urgent incidents should be acknowledged within two hours during our agreed support window.
