Nagios Core Configuration Expert

I already have Nagios Core up and running on-prem, but the default setup is far from what I need. I’m looking to refine the entire configuration so it accurately reflects my infrastructure and gives meaningful alerts.

Here’s what I’d like you to tackle:

• Build out a clean set of host and service definitions that match my current network map (≈40 devices plus critical apps).
• Develop a handful of lightweight custom plugins—Bash, Python or Perl is fine—to monitor a few proprietary services the standard plugins don’t cover.
• Connect Nagios Core with the other tools in my stack (a small syslog server and a Slack workspace for notifications), keeping everything as native and maintainable as possible.

All work happens on an on-premises VM, so you’ll get SSH access to a staging clone first, then we’ll migrate the finished configs into production together. Deliverables are the updated config files, your plugin scripts with clear usage notes, and brief documentation on how the integrations were achieved so I can maintain them going forward.
